Gathering ’11 brings together leading thinkers, change-makers and collaborators from across Australia and around the world to explore what’s possible, and develop ideas on how we can best solve today’s most pressing social and environmental challenges, together.

Exploring big questions and bigger opportunities

How might we tap into the potential of emerging technologies, networks, and systems to co-create a thrivable new world?

Where are the opportunities – and what do we need – to lay the foundations for a new economy, a cleaner environment, resilient communities, and a happier planet?

What can we all do to build better futures?

Co-creating socially innovative solutions

Gathering ’11 will provide a space and experience that supports the emergence of socially innovative and transformative ideas. Using the World Café process, Open Space Technology and drawing from the methodology of Improv, Presencing and Theory U,  we have collaboratively developed a program to transform inspiration into action with positive social impact.

At Gathering ’11 you will:

• experience new approaches to idea generation and problem solving;
• learn how to engage and mobilise your friends, your community and your organisation around a cause;
• discover models for business that are having a positive social impact and thriving in challenging economic times;
• find out how you can use technology and social media to make a real difference;
• hear how small moves, smartly made, can set big things in motion; and
• develop ideas and cocreate opportunities for world-changing projects and game-changing enterprises.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if there were a collaborative crowdsourced web 2.0 Gathering ’11 scrapbook we can all contribute to?

Fear not, plans are underway! It will be an easy and fun reference for everything that is Gathering ’11 including preparations, the event itself, reflections, effects, and next steps.

The content will be pulled from the comment section of this blog post.

Share any and all of the following (directly, with a link, or with embed code):

• Reflections large and small, notes, lessons learned, connections made – basically, text of any kind

The process for creating this resource is coming together in real-time. This blog post is being updated as that process is defined and as the project moves forward. For example, it will likely be helpful to tag related online content with “Gathering11″ (please do, along with any other tags that come to mind). And it may also be helpful to propose additional tags to help with the sorting process. Don’t hesitate to use the comment section to ask questions or share suggestions about those or any other aspect of this project.
